Ashland Firefighters Battle Flames at the El Tarasco Restaurant

Around 2 a.m. on Saturday August 16th, the Ashland Fire Department was dispatched to a fire at the El Tarasco restaurant. Fire crews responded immediately to a one-story commercial structure fire, where heavy smoke was coming from the eaves at both the front and back of the building.

Ashland Police Department were also on scene, they used multiple extinguishers on the exterior of the building. Ashland Firefighters then forced their way into the building and encountered heavy smoke banked to the floor. Windows on the front of the building were taken out and positive pressure was applied to ventilate the building. Mutual aid was received from the Washburn Fire Department. They assisted at the scene of the fire for 2 hours with extensive overhaul of interior walls and ceilings to ensure that the fire was completely extinguished. Xcel Energy disconnected the electric and gas to this property. One firefighter was treated for heat exhaustion at the scene during the course of this fire.
