VIDEO: One person is dead after a fire at a Fitchburg apartment complex Thursday night, Fitchburg Fire Rescue reported. According to Fitchburg Fire Rescue, crews responded just before 7 p.m. to Valley View Apartments on the 2000 block of Fish Hatchery Road for a fire alarm going off.
When they arrived, they found smoke in the hallway and found a fire in one of the apartment units. Officials put the fire out and no other apartment units were damaged.
Crews found one adult in the unit where the fire broke out. That individual was taken to the hospital and was pronounced dead, the agency stated. Officials did not release the person’s name. No one else was hurt.
Fitchburg Fire investigators are looking into what caused the fire. The Fitchburg Police Department, FitchRona EMS, Verona Fire Department and the Madison Fire Department responded to the fire.
