VIDEO/PHOTOS: Wildfires across Washington state have burned more than 237,000 acres and counting, with 11 major fires currently burning.
The Labor Mountain Fire, burning in and around Highway 97 near Blewett Pass, has grown to over 37,000 acres with 7% containment as of Oct. 1.
There are 567 structures or homes under the evacuation zone, according to Jeff Dimke, the Labor Mountain Fire Incident Commander. The fire has also led to a 30-mile closure of Highway 97.
Around 1,300 fire personnel are assigned to help tackle the Labor Mountain Fire.
Just northeast of the Labor Mountain Fire, the Lower Sugarloaf Fire has consumed over 39,000 acres about 12 miles northeast of Leavenworth, prompting various evacuation levels.
Around 1,100 fire personnel are helping fight the Lower Sugarloaf Fire.
Commissioner of Public Lands Dave Upthegrove met with fire crews in Cle Elum, urging lawmakers to restore funding for wildfire preparedness and response efforts under House Bill 1168.
