Authorities have downgraded the evacuation status for the Pack Fire burning near Crowley Lake and U.S. Highway 395, citing decreased fire activity due to recent precipitation.
The Evacuation Order for Crowley Lake was reduced to an Evacuation Warning, permitting residents to return to their homes under escort beginning at 8:00 PM Thursday night. Escorts will be available at both the northbound and southbound closures on Highway 395. Access to Crowley Lake will be restricted to South Landing Road. However, officials note that Crowley Lake Drive remains closed between McGee Creek Road and the Long Valley Fire Station.
Mandatory Evacuations are still in effect for the communities of Long Valley and McGee Creek. Evacuation Warnings remain in place for Aspen Springs, Hilton Creek, Convict Lake, and Sunny Slopes.
The Pack Fire is estimated to have burned 3,400 acres and is currently 0% contained.
