Fire department in Idaho expands with 2 new stations to meet growth, boost wildfire readiness

VIDEO: Big changes are underway for fire service in the rapidly growing Eagle area, as officials announced the construction of two new fire stations designed to cut response times and bolster wildfire preparedness.

The Eagle Fire Department, in partnership with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), will relocate Station 2 and construct a brand-new Station 4 โ€” investments that come as the city faces both explosive population growth and increasing wildfire threats.

Station 2, currently located in the eastern part of the city, will move to a more central location within the district. The $10 million relocation is being funded jointly by the city and the BLM, with plans to break ground in spring 2026.

But perhaps more notably, a completely new Station 4 is in the works, set to begin construction this December near Colchester Drive and Eagle Road.

“For us, it’s all about response times,” Eagle Fire Chief Tyler Lewis said. “Eagle Road has become a difficult area to access quickly due to population density and traffic. Weโ€™ve strategically planned Station 4 to serve what we call โ€˜the island,โ€™ which spans from Highway 44 to Chinden Boulevard.”
