The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Phoenix District Office has announced its intent to conduct prescribed burns across areas within Maricopa and Yavapai counties.
This preemptive move is designed to manage and reduce the risk of more severe wildfires by eliminating accumulated brush on public lands.
The burn operations, scheduled to unfold over multiple days in January and February of 2026, will occur only under favorable weather conditions to ensure safety.
In Yavapai County, fire crews are set to burn 200 acres of juniper piles within the Agua Fria National Monument and another 60 acres near Skull Valley.
