Guam Fire Department: 4 new ambulances acquired through ARP funds now in full operation

PHOTOS: The four new ambulances that Guam Fire Department officials initially announced during a legislative hearing in June are now in full operation. GFD, in a release on Tuesday, said it acquired four brand-new Dodge Ram ProMaster 3500 ambulances using federal American Rescue Plan funds at a cost of $163,000 each. Lt. Nick Garrido, GFD spokesperson, clarified that these four new ambulances were the same ones GFD announced in June and the department is “finally able to put them out in full operation.”

They bring to six the total number of operational GFD ambulances, still short of the minimum eight to provide adequate emergency response under national standards. Garrido said two older models are under repair, while two others are on “standby should any of the six go out of service.” GFD said these state-of-the-art ambulances will significantly enhance the department’s ability to respond to medical emergencies and provide critical pre-hospital care across the island. The addition of the new units is part of GFDโ€™s ongoing commitment to improving public safety, modernizing its fleet, and ensuring that first responders have the resources needed to protect the community.
