Cabell County fire departments to get software upgrades

VIDEO: When the Milton Volunteer Fire department is alerted of an emergency, they use a program called โ€œFirst Due.โ€ It is a system that gives important information when responding to calls. The Cabell County Commission approved funding to get an update to the system, which means departments will get real time updates from dispatchers when an emergency strikes. The fire department said they paid for the initial system, and the commission funding goes toward buying the upgrade. โ€œSome information that we didnโ€™t get in the initial call, thatโ€™s going to help give us that information right then and there that we normally wouldnโ€™t have; whether it be, they donโ€™t have it, or whether it be the radio issues we may have,โ€ said Dale Martin with the Milton Volunteer Fire Department. Other departments in the county are implementing โ€œFirst Dueโ€ as their reporting system and with commission funding, will be able to use this new โ€œapplication programming interface.โ€
