VIDEO: Beckley’s firefighters and police officers are usually working to keep residents safe. But in the Boots vs Badges charity softball game, they will be hitting the field for a good cause. It was announced that Beckley Police Department and Beckley Fire Department members will square off at Epling Stadium in a softball matchup for charity. With bragging rights on the line, each agency looks to bring out the heavy hitters. But it is about more than just competition, as each agency will be competing for the charity of their choice. “Beckley Fire Department has chosen WVU Children’s Hospital, we have chosen Just for Kids which is here on Kanawha Street in Beckley,” said Officer Adam Justice with Beckley Police Department. “So, any money that we bring in is going to be put into one pot. And the winning team, their charity will get 75% of the money and the losing team, their charity will get the other 25%.”
