PHOTOS: Over 120 personnel responded to a brush fire that damaged several homes and a soccer field on Sunday in the Beacon Hill area, leaving two people with minor injuries. The Seattle Fire Department reported heavy smoke in the 2500 block of S. Myrtle St just before 4 p.m. At it’s peak, it was a 3-alarm response from SPD and other agencies. An SPD spokesperson says that four homes were damaged in total, two of which had fire force its way inside the homes, the other two suffering exterior damage.
SFD added that two people were treated on scene, and were sent to a hospital for further treatment but were in stable condition, with non-life threatening injuries. A firefighter was also treated for a minor injury, and was able to return to working the fire. David Widham was one of those residents, who says his wife spotted the fire and they quickly grabbed their cat and got out of the house. They did not know the extent of the damages until they were able to return nearly 2 hours later.
