Vancouver apartment fire leaves one dead, displaces 20 residents

VIDEO/PHOTOS: A fire broke out early Friday morning at an apartment complex on 4503 E 5th Street, claiming the life of one adult and displacing approximately 20 residents. The Vancouver Fire Department responded to the scene just before 3 a.m., finding heavy flames emanating from a third-story apartment.

Firefighters quickly called for a second alarm to bring additional resources, resulting in about 15 fire units and 33 personnel, including those from Clark County Fire District 6, battling the blaze. The fire was brought under control within 30 minutes.

Tragically, one adult victim was found deceased during the operation. The Red Cross in providing aid to those displaced from nine apartments. The Vancouver Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
