Firefighters rescue person from Lake Washington near I-90 bridge

A rescue swimmer and firefighters retrieved a person from Lake Washington off the eastbound Interstate 90 floating bridge.

The Seattle Fire Department (SFD) first posted about the incident on X at 6:35 a.m. Monday. SFD said the person was near the midspan of the bridge. The incident closed the two right lanes, jamming traffic during the morning commute.

The person was loaded onto a rescue watercraft and taken to shore to be evaluated by medics. They were then taken to the hospital for further care. The circumstances leading up to the incident are not known. The lanes reopened around 7 a.m.
