Explosion and fire at Oak Harbor home leaves 1 unaccounted for, 2 escape with injuries

PHOTOS: A large explosion and subsequent fire erupted at a residence on Strawberry Point Road in Oak Harbor Tuesday evening. According to the Island County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred at around 5:45 p.m., prompting a swift response from fire, EMS, and law enforcement officials. “There were three adults home at the time, two of whom escaped with minor injuries, while one individual remains unaccounted for,” wrote the ICSO. “Fire crews will remain on scene throughout the night to monitor for hotspots, and an investigation into the cause and origin of the explosion and fire will commence once it is safe to do so.” The ICSO continued to note that their investigation is ongoing.
