Driver seriously injured after crash that damaged Vancouver businesses

VIDEO/PHOTOS: A driver was taken to the hospital after crashing their vehicle early Tuesday morning in Vancouver. Police officers responded to the crash around 2:40 a.m. near the intersection of Main Street and East McLoughlin Boulevard in Vancouver’s Arnada neighborhood. They found the driver in the road about 15 feet away from his truck, according to Vancouver police. He was taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.

Vancouver police have not released any additional details about his condition. The outside of several businesses were damaged. While Vancouver police didn’t provide specific businesses, a photo shared on social media showed damage to the exterior of Irrelevant Beer. KGW spoke with Mitch Montgomery, the co-owner of Irrelevant Beer and Relevant Coffee, two of the businesses affected.

“What were your initial thoughts when you saw that video?” asked Daisy Caballero. “[I said] Oh my God! First off, we are hoping that the person survived. Because I wouldn’t wish that on anyone,” said Montgomery. “I would have surmised that the driver would be a fatality because it hits so intensely.” He believes the car was going at least 60 miles per hour during the time of the crash. He says the truck ruined all of their patio furniture and broke a window, two months after opening the brewery.
