VIDEO: Virginia Task Force Four is back in its home state after battling flood waters in Texas, taking what it’s learned from the devastation to teach local fire departments in the Twin Counties everything they need to know to save lives in a flooding emergency. Chief Mike Ayers with Galax Fire Department said they’re training to prepare for future rescues. “When the alarm goes, somebody’s got to take care of business. Without training, you’re not going to do it correctly or safely,” said Ayers. And they’re learning from the best. Just three days after Virginia Task Force Four returned from a 14-day trip assisting with flood rescue in Texas, it’s back on the water in the New River training volunteers from Galax Fire Department, Laurel Fork Fire Volunteer Fire Department, Barren Springs Volunteer Fire Department and Hillsville Fire Department.
