PHOTOS: Two people are hurt following a house fire in Suffolk Wednesday night.
According to officials, crews were called to the 2800 block of South Nansemond Drive at 11:34 p.m. for the report of a residential structure fire.
When crews arrived, they found heavy fire showing from the garage attached to a single-story home. Officials say the fire extended into the main residence and attic.
Crews quickly put water on the fire and conducted a search of the home. No occupants were inside.
The fire was placed under control just after midnight. The home sustained heavy fire and smoke damage.
Two people were hurt as a result of the fire. One was transported to the area hospital for treatment.
One person is now displaced and being assisted by family members.
The cause and origin of the fire is being investigated by the Suffolk Fire Marshalโs Office.
