Progress continues on new fire stations in Rockingham County

VIDEO: Two Rockingham County Fire and Rescue buildings continue progress on construction. In June of 2024, the Rockingham County Board of Supervisors approved the proposal for two new stations in the county, one in Dayton and the other located in Fulks Run. Since the approval, progress has been made despite a few delays due to weather. The station located in Fulks Run is set to open first, sometime in August. “It’s come along, the building is up and moving along fairly quickly,” said Rockingham County Fire and Rescue Chief Jeremy Holloway. Holloway said a month or two after they broke ground in Fulks Run, the building in Dayton began. “Weather has not cooperated, trying to get ground work in, and we had to do some road work, to get this station up,” Holloway said. Despite the delays, the Dayton station is set to open at the beginning of 2026.
