At about 4:25 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 8, firefighters with Prince George County Fire and EMS were called to the 4800 block of Thunder Road for reports of a worker trapped in heavy machinery.

When they arrived, they found a worker whose leg had been pinned in a piece of heavy equipment. Firefighters worked together with on-site work staff to use a hoist system to lift the machinery, freeing the worker.

They were airlifted to a nearby hospital for โ€œurgent medical care.โ€ Fire officials did not provide any additional information on the severity of their injuries. The department expressed gratitude for the on-site staff and the assistance they provided to firefighters.

โ€œThis rapid and coordinated response between first responders and facility staff ensured the patient was safely removed and given immediate access to advanced medical treatment,โ€ fire officials said.
