Fire breaks out in York County shopping center, no injuries reported

A fire broke out in a shopping center at the 3300 block of Hampton Highway in the Tabb area of York County around 5:40 p.m. Saturday evening.

Emergency personnel from the York County Department of Fire and Life Safety responded to the incident.

The Langley Air Force Base Fire Department was the first to arrive on the scene, encountering flames and heavy smoke in a section of the laundromat that is not utilized generally by the public.

In addition to fire damage to the laundromat, the fire caused minor smoke damage to two storefronts, including the public laundromat and an adjacent vacant storefront. No injuries were reported.

Firefighters disconnected the building’s power and natural gas supplies as a safety precaution.

Crews conducted an overhaul of the facility to ensure that there were no hidden embers or fire within the walls or ceilings.
