Bedford firefighter taken to hospital after battling garage fire fueled by gasoline

Bedford Fire Department responded to a garage fire being fueled by a gasoline leak that led to one firefighter being transported to a local hospital for burns.

According to officials, on Friday, September 26, BFD was dispatched at 4:45 p.m. to the 2700 block of Lazenbury Road for a reported garage fire.

Responders say a bulk of the fire was taken care of fairly quickly, but a gasoline leak was feeding the fire. After approximately 30 minutes, the fire was fully extinguished with foam.

BFD reports that one firefighter was taken to Lewis Gale Hospital with burns. The fire is currently being investigated by the Bedford County Fire Marshal’s Office.
