VIDEO/PHOTOS: On Sunday, several West Jordan homes caught fire and were damaged. 17-year-old Carter Jacobson and his friends jumped into action and saved two dogs from one of the burning homes. Around 5:30 p.m., on August 17, 2025, a fire broke out in the area of Jackling Way in West Jordan. The fire destroyed two homes and damaged several others. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported.
17-year-olds Carter Jacobson, Gabriel Hernandez, and Camerin Inselsberger were doing yard work nearby when the fire started. Gabriel looked up and saw plumes of black smoke coming from the nearby homes. They all jumped in to help, getting to the burning homes before any first responders had arrived. When they got there, the fire had already reached the front door in one home and was starting to burn the second home on the outside.
Neighbors confirmed that there was nobody inside the first home, which was destroyed. However, it was unclear whether or not anyone was inside the second home, and the teenagers could hear dogs barking from inside the home. At first, the teenagers tried knocking on the door, worried that there were people inside the house. Then, the boys and Camerin’s father took turns hitting and kicking the door, until they were finally able to gain access to the home.
