A semi-truck caught fire early Tuesday morning, blocking westbound traffic on Interstate 80 near Echo Junction in Summit County. The fire started around 3:45 a.m. on Dec. 2, according to the North Summit Fire District, near mile marker 174 – about seven miles east of Echo Junction.
Firefighters acted quickly to contain the blaze. North Summit Fire said, fortunately, no injuries were reported. It is currently unclear what started the fire. Westbound traffic on I-80 was restricted to just a single lane near Emory throughout the morning.
