Neighborhood loses power after structure fire in Magna

VIDEO/PHOTOS: Crews responded to a structure fire in Magna after a home and detached garage caught fire. The fire spread to a power pole and the neighborhood has lost power. According to Unified Fire Department, crews responded to a structure fire that spread to a home near 3139 S 9000 W in Magna. Multiple agencies from various agencies responded, due to the dry and windy conditions, and proximity to other buildings. Crews worked to eliminate any potential hotspots.

Three of the six residents were on the property when the fire started and were able to evacuate with no injuries. They also were able to relocate several pets from the home. Unfortunately, some pets are still unaccounted for. Additionally, one firefighter received minor treatment, likely due to heat exhaustion. According to Kelly Bird with Unified Fire Authority, the fire spread quickly and reached a nearby RV and a neighboring detached garage, while also threatening other homes. He also noted that wind and structure proximity both likely played a factor in how quickly the fire grew.
