Monroe Canyon Fire nears 65,000 acres, containment increases to 15%

VIDEO: Utah’s largest fire of the 2025 Fire season is now burning nearly 65,000 acres and is 15% contained, according to the latest update posted by the U.S. National Forest- Fishlake National Forest on the Monroe Canyon Fire. Red flag warnings are already in place and crews expect it to be in place until Friday. According to ABC4’s 4Warn weather team, hot, dry and windy conditions will stick around as we make it through today and most of our work week. Crews expect several thunderstorms to pass through the area towards the end of the week, but may not bring moisture with them. Due to active fire weather, fire personnel tackled a flare up near Manning Meadows.

The fire ran to the north of Box Creek spike camp, causing a smoke column to lay in the camp which created an unhealthy environment for firefighters. The fire, however, didn’t threaten the camp, officials noted. Firefighters say will continue to connect the many firelines created from the ridges around Glenwood Mountain to the Highway 24 corridor to tackle the fire. So far, 1,366 fire personnel are on the ground trying to tackle the fire and protect structures in the area. Crews have also began replacing over 12 power poles that have been due to the Monroe Canyon fire. According to Garkane Energy, power is currently off on the North System as they begin the transition to generator power and start repairs on the main transmission line.
