A microburst of rain caused a mudslide in the Buckley Draw Fire burn scar area. City crews responded quickly to clear debris and mud on Nevada Avenue and Slate Canyon Drive. Homes were protected in the area, but a “significant amount of mud” reached a church at the intersection of Nevada Avenue and Slate Canyon Drive, the City of Provo said.
More than 200 volunteers worked to clear about 13,440 tons of debris. Debris also went as far as State Street. Crews with the Utah Department of Transportation responded and reopened the street. The public was asked to avoid the area.
