Forsyth Fire grows to 5,660 acres as emergency crews work tirelessly to protect homes

VIDEO/PHOTOS: The Forsyth Fire has expanded significantly to an estimated 5,660 acres as of Sunday afternoon. The incident management team determined acreage after conducting a flight earlier in the day to map the fireโ€™s footprint more accurately. Deputies working the fire said the fire remains at 0% contained. According to the Washington County Sheriffโ€™s Office, firefighting resources are limited, and crews are working with whatโ€™s available. Deputies said they have been actively responding to residents who called in with concerns about their property, but the number of requests for property checks has become overwhelming. They noted that residents may not receive a callback unless their property is directly affected. So far, 14 homes have been confirmed lost. Deputies emphasized that fire crews are working tirelessly to protect homes in the community but urged community members to stay out of the area.
