Firefighters knock down ‘aggressive’ garage blaze in Salt Lake City

A fast-moving fire tore through a detached garage in Salt Lake City on Sunday afternoon, sending thick smoke into the air and prompting a large response from firefighters. No injuries were reported. Crews said their quick action kept the flames from spreading to nearby homes and businesses near 1055 S. Major St.

The fire started around 12:30 p.m., and when Salt Lake City Fire Department crews arrived, they found the garage fully engulfed in flames. The response was quickly upgraded to a second alarm as firefighters made an aggressive interior attack.
