Developers plan to resume construction after massive Lehi fire

PHOTOS: Developers overseeing the buildings destroyed in the Lehi fire said they plan to resume construction. In a statement, Wood Partners said work will restart once the extent of the damage is fully assessed and investigators have completed their review.

After the massive fire at a construction site in Lehi, there have been more questions than answers about what exactly caused the fire. Just after 10 a.m. Nov. 9, nearby residents witnessed a shocking scene as the planned Alta Vista development, intended to feature more than 300 multifamily housing units, erupted in flames.

Investigators said they now know where the fire started, but they don’t know what set it off. “Well, my daughter screamed at me, ‘Mom, look out the window!'” said Juli Beckwith, who lives near the site. “I look out the window, and I see towering piles of smoke, and I can see the flames above the house in front of us. It was really scary.”
