Clearfield house fire kills dog, destroys family’s belongings

PHOTOS: One dog was killed and a family’s belongings were destroyed in a house fire in Clearfield. Officials with the North Davis Fire District said they responded to a structure fire near 140 S 350 W at about 1:15 a.m. on Sunday. They said the family was not home at the time, but two dogs were inside. The fire appeared to start outside the home and spread up the back of the house and into the attic.

While the flames were extinguished in about 20 minutes, one dog was killed in the incident. Officials said the other dog was in a room with a closed door and survived. One of the residents, Marissa Reed, posted about the incident, saying the fire took their dog’s life and damaged “almost everything we own.” “The hardest part is that our beloved Chow Chow, Kush, didnโ€™t make it, and we are heartbroken as we mourn the loss of our fur baby,” Reed wrote. Fire officials said the cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
