Roof collapses as fire destroys Molly’s Pub in Houston; cause under investigation

VIDEO: A popular neighborhood bar in the Clear Lake area is a total loss after an early morning fire ripped through Molly’s Pub on Monday. Houston firefighters were called to the bar at Ramada Drive and Sea Lark Road just after 6:30 a.m. and spent more than four hours battling the flames.

More than two dozen firefighters responded as heavy smoke and flames poured from the roof. Air 11 captured live footage showing the building engulfed as crews sprayed water from above and worked to keep the fire from spreading.

“It was pretty heavily driven by the winds this morning,” said HFD District Chief Rustin Rawlings. “But our crews did a great job of getting our ladder pipes in the air and getting lines on the ground putting a stop to the fire.”

The fire was fueled by gusty morning winds, which made it difficult to contain. By the time firefighters gained control, the roof had collapsed, and the building was declared a complete loss.

Fortunately, no one was inside the pub when the fire broke out, and no injuries were reported, officials said.
