Rollover crash injures husband-and-wife firefighters in Quinlan

VIDEO: Emergency crews responded to a major crash involving a Quinlan Volunteer Fire Department truck that injured two firefighters Tuesday afternoon, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety. Around 1:05 p.m. on Tuesday, Texas DPS said emergency crews were dispatched to the 7100 block of Farm-to-Market Road 36 South in Quinlan, about an hour east of Dallas.

Officials said the driver of a Quinlan fire truck lost control on a curve, then rolled the truck over several times on the way to a call. The truck came to a stop when it struck a tree in a front yard. It was heading northbound on FM 36. Two firefighters were involved in the crash. “I got a phone call from one of the people that was in the truck,” said Quinlan VFD Chief Brian Collinsworth. Collinsworth says the two passengers are husband and wife. “He was giving me a small rundown of what happened and that they were both injured,” Collinsworth recalled. “I wanted to make sure they were okay.” The male passenger was transported by ground to a hospital in Greenville, and the his wife, the driver, was taken by helicopter to Medical City Plano, according to South Hunt County Fire Rescue.
