Robby Bergerson sworn in as Waco’s new fire chief after 32 years of service

VIDEO: After more than three decades dedicated to the fire service, Robin “Robby” Bergerson officially became Waco’s new fire chief Monday afternoon during a swearing-in ceremony at Fire Station #6. The ceremony marked the culmination of Bergerson’s remarkable 32-year journey in fire service, with nearly 28 years devoted to serving the Waco community.

“It was relatively quick, but it is an exciting day,” Bergerson said after taking the oath. “Been looking forward to it for a long time, so it was very rewarding that the day has finally arrived, stepping into this new role.” Bergerson’s path to the chief’s office is a testament to dedication and hard work. Throughout his career, he has served in every operational and administrative rank within the department โ€” from firefighter and engineer to training division chief, deputy chief of emergency operations, executive deputy fire chief, and most recently, interim fire chief.
