Panhandle firefighters lost in line of duty among those to be honored in Austin

Two Panhandle firefighters who lost their lives in the line of duty over the past two years will be honored at the State Capitol in Austin on Wednesday. Both Zeb Smith with the Fritch Volunteer Fire Department and Scott Glass with the Perryton Fire Department will be honored on April 2. The Volunteer Firefighter Line of Duty Death Memorial Service will take place on the Texas Capitol building grounds. The State Firefightersโ€™ and Fire Marshals Association of Texas holds the memorial to remember and pay respects to volunteer firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their community. Perryton, Fritch and nine other Texas firefighters will be honored. Families as well as brothers and sisters from the departments will gather at the Volunteer Firemenโ€™s Memorial Monument on the south lawn of the Texas Capitol.
