Los Fresnos Fire Department contains large 20 acre fire

PHOTOS: The Los Fresnos Fire Department, along with the assistance of multiple fire departments, battled a large fire that spread over approximately 20 acres. At 10:58 a.m., Los Fresnos FD received a 911 call regarding a large grass fire in Bayview. At the scene, firefighters saw multiple large piles of railroad tiles on fire that had spread out to approximately 20 acres, according to a news release from the Los Fresnos FD. Fire crews immediately began extinguishing the fire. According to the release, a total of 20 fire engines, also known as apparatus, responded to the scene.

Agencies that reported to the scene to assist with the fire were the following:

  • Brownsville Fire Department
  • Laguna Vista Fire Department
  • Port Isabel Fire Department
  • U.S. Fish and Wildlife
  • Texas Forest Service
  • Cameron County Sheriffโ€™s Office
  • Texas Department of Public Safety

Fire officials report that the fire has been contained and will be completely extinguished soon. Additionally, no buildings have been damaged or involved in the fire.
