Longview Fire Department Rescues Crash Victim From 40-Foot Fall on I-20

PHOTOS: Longview crews rescued a person who had fallen 40 feet from the interstate Thursday night. On Nov. 20, at around 8:50 p.m., Longview Fire Department’s Special Operations teams responded to a major crash on I-20. Upon arrival, crews discovered a victim in the crash fell approximately 40 feet from an elevated section of the road.

Crews executed a high-angle rescue operation. Special Operations personnel rapelled to the patient’s location and provided emergency medical care, and were able to safely bring them back up to the roadway. They were later transferred to Christus EMS for further treatment.

“The coordinated efforts and technical skill demonstrated by these personnel ensured the successful outcome of this complex operation,” a spokesperson for Longview FD said. “Their professionalism and rapid response exemplify the departmentโ€™s readiness to respond to high-risk rescue situations.”
