Large fire contained on hillside in Bandera County, firefighters say

Firefighters in Pipe Creek, which is northwest of San Antonio, battled a blaze they believe was ignited by a lightning strike during Saturday’s storms. The volunteer fire department fought the fire on a hillside located on a ranch off of Bear Springs Road.

“We’ve had personnel and equipment on scene of this large fire all night, which is located on a very large ranch on a very steep hillside, off Bear Springs Road,” said PCVFD. “The fire was started by lightning during the storms yesterday afternoon.” Officials say there is no danger to people or property, but with temperatures expected to climb to almost 100 degrees, weather will play a big role in the fire. They say they will be able to extinguish the fire, but think it will take a little time. The fire is now 70% contained, as of Monday morning.
