Kia catches fire at Abilene dealership as owner brings it in for recall issue

VIDEO/PHOTOS: A vehicle burst into flames Tuesday afternoon while being driven to the dealership for a recall repair. On September 30, crews responded to Southwest Drive in front of The Home Depot for a vehicle fire.

The driver, David Thayer, said he was bringing the vehicle to the Kia Dealership for a recall issue when the flames began. “I was bringing my car into Kia to get it checked out, and it blew something and caught fire,” Thayer shared. “I hurt my leg a little bit. But other than that, I’m fine.” Thayer, the only occupant, escaped safely before the vehicle was fully engulfed.
