Highlands FD: Children among victims after flames tear through mobile home

VIDEO: A late-night fire in east Harris County sent six people, including three young children, to the hospital after flames tore through a double-wide mobile home early Monday morning. The fire broke out just after midnight at a home on Pauline Street in Highlands, according to the Highlands Fire Department.

When firefighters arrived, they found heavy smoke and flames coming from the mobile home. Officials said six people were inside, including three children under 6 years old.

Two people had to be pulled from the fire, and one person escaped by jumping out of a window. Fire officials said three adults, a mother, a father, and an older man believed to be the childrenโ€™s grandfather, are in critical condition.

The older man was flown by Life Flight to the Texas Medical Center, while the mother and father were also taken there in critical condition. The mother and her three children were later taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital for further treatment.
