VIDEOS: The Fort Worth Fire Department battled a 6-alarm fire that broke out Monday afternoon at a 6-floor apartment building on West Rosedale Street. Fire officials told NBC 5 they were called around 1:45 PM by a maintenance worker at The Cooper apartment complex, who told officials he’d found a fire that had broken out on the roof.
“And they did find fire on the roof around an air conditioning unit,” said Fort Worth Fire Chief Jim Davis. “As you can see from here, the fire underneath has burnt through.” The flames quickly spread, leading the complex to be evacuated and launching an hours-long battle to contain the fire. “Everything is completely covered in smoke at this point, the entire area is covered in smoke,” said witness Joshua Hill. Along with the human residents of the complex, firefighters went door to door rescuing pets from the burning building, leading to reunions like the one between Anette Hutson and her dog Stella.
