PHOTOS: The Fort Bend County Fire Marshal’s office is mourning the loss of K-9 officer Bella, who died on Monday. Bella was a German Shepherd/Belgian Malinois mix, born in Hungary. She faithfully served starting in 2016, becoming the countyโs first-ever accelerant detection canine.
The fire marshal’s office described her as “highly trained, incredibly focused, and deeply loyal.” She was trained at the Houston K9 Academy by then-Lt. Steven McDonald, graduating with honors and quickly establishing herself as a vital asset in arson investigations in Fort Bend County and neighboring jurisdictions. Known for her precision, loyalty and unwavering focus, Bella played a critical role in determining the origins and causes of suspicious fires throughout her career. She was recognized as one of the top-trained arson K-9s in the nation.
