Firefighters return to battle another fire at long-abandoned west Houston apartment complex

VIDEO: Firefighters were back at the scene of a large apartment fire early Thursday morning in the Spring Branch area of west Houston โ€” the second fire this month and one of many at the same long-abandoned complex. The fire broke out behind the Front Royale Apartments on Westview Drive near Gessner.

Officials said the first 911 call came in around 4:30 a.m., and crews arrived to find heavy flames coming from one of the buildings. Firefighters worked quickly to keep the flames contained to the abandoned section of the property while protecting nearby occupied apartments and businesses.

According to District Fire Chief Robert Branch, crews were last called to the same site on October 7 for another fire. He said arson investigators have been called to this location multiple times, and in at least one case, someone admitted to starting a fire, though investigators were unable to prove it.
