Firefighters free driver after violent crash splits car in half in The Woodlands

A violent crash late Tuesday night left one driver with life-threatening injuries after their vehicle was torn in half, according to The Woodlands Fire Department. Firefighters said they were called out around 11:30 p.m. to Research Forest between Crownridge and Rockledge for a collision with entrapment.

Crews from The Woodlands Fire Department, Montgomery County Hospital District, and Montgomery County ESD No. 10/Magnolia Fire Department all responded. When first responders arrived, they found a vehicle split in two by the force of the crash. One person was trapped in the wreckage.

Firefighters used hydraulic rescue tools to free the driver, who was then transferred to Montgomery County medics. Officials said the driver was taken to Memorial Hermann with life-threatening injuries. The Montgomery County Sheriffโ€™s Office and DPS are investigating the crash as a possible street racing incident.
