Firefighters battle large house fire in Georgetown; all residents safely evacuated

VIDEO/PHOTOS: Police and emergency crews worked to extinguish a large house fire that sparked Monday afternoon in Georgetown. Police Chief Cory Tchida said the 911 call came in at around 5:25 p.m., reporting a fire at 109 Wolf Ridge Road, and confirmed all occupants of the home had safely evacuated. Michael Cordell, who was visiting a friend in the neighborhood, said he and others were walking back to the house when they noticed flames coming from a nearby home. He said they immediately ran to help.

“They ran toward the front door, they ran toward the back, ran to the front door, looked at the garage — it’s on fire,” Cordell said. “Obviously ran to the front door, banged on it, yelled at them, screamed, ‘Your house is on fire.’”

Cordell said the group didn’t hesitate, helping alert the neighbors and making sure everyone was able to get outside safely. Members of a Facebook group who live near the incident expressed their concerns, saying they could see a “big plume of smoke.”
