VIDEO/PHOTOS: Firefighters were at the scene where a fire broke out at a commercial building near I-45 and N Shepherd Dr. The Houston Fire Department says they got the call around 4:50 p.m. Units arrived and entered the building, which HFD said housed two businesses, including an auto repair business. Firefighters tried to fight the fire from inside the building, but concerns about fire on the roof near A/C units forced them to retreat and fight the fire from the outside. It took between 80-100 firefighters close to two hours to finally extinguish the fire. During the fire, HFD said firefighters heard pops and small explosions, believed to be from chemicals inside the auto repair business being stored in 55-gallon drums.
