VIDEO: Fire officials say a wildfire is fully contained after burning in southeast Austin on Friday afternoon. Smoke was spotted near Dee Gabriel Collins Road from KVUE’s tower cam south of Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.
According to Travis County Fire Chief Ken Bailey, as of 3:43 p.m. the fire is fully contained after burning near that area. Fire officials initially said the fire was believed to have burned roughly 40 acres, they believe it burned 36 acres.
Bailey said construction work may have caused a spark in a hayfield nearby. There have been no injuries and the flames are not threatening any structures. Firefighters will be out there for the next several hours as they mop it up.
