VIDEO/PHOTOS: Over the past few years, Early has seen growth in the community, with new businesses and more residents. On Monday, they added to their resources with the fire department receiving its first ladder truck. Residents gave a hand, helping with the wash-off and push-in ceremony, wiping down the sides of the truck and pushing it into its new home, the bay. The 103-foot ladder truck was purchased used from Illinois and can hold 500 gallons of water. Fire Chief Chad Hill says the purchase of the truck comes in response to the growth that the city has seen with new commercial businesses. “We do run a lot of calls here in Early, more than people realize,” Hill said. “That’s definitely going to help, just for the commercial buildings coming in, and new buildings as well as Brownwood. Now, we have two ladder trucks in the county, including theirs, so that’s huge.”
