Denison Fire and Rescue evacuates businesses after Atmos Energy finds gas leak

VIDEO: When Denison Fire and Rescue got the call to evacuate the businesses in Morton Plaza, they knew something was wrong, especially when they saw who was calling. โ€œUsually, we get you know a homeowner or a business owner that says, โ€˜hey I smell gas,โ€™ and then weโ€™ll respond to those,โ€ said Denison Deputy Fire Marshal Landon Lindsey. โ€œThis time it was from Atmos [Energy], so we knew it was probably a little more serious than normal.โ€ Atmos was doing a routine survey at the plaza when they found that there might be a gas leak. The next step was figuring out where it was coming from, and how to stop it. Atmos Public Affairs Manager Travis Buckner says finding leaks just by chance is rare.
