Cisco launches Wildfire Mitigation Department with $218K grant to combat fire risks

The City of Cisco has announced that they have established a new Wildfire Mitigation Department. The City said they are thankful to the Texas Forest Service, Texas A&M University, and the US Forest Service for their support in grant funding for the department over $218,460.61.

This department is dedicated to reducing fire risks within the city limits. They plan to implement measures to protect residents, property, infrastructure and natural resources from the threat of wildfires. Some of the key responsibilities of the Wildfire Mitigation Department is community education, vegetation management, firebreaks and controlled burns, and collaboration with local agencies. This department officially commenced operation on April 14 of this year.
