VIDEO: A child is being treated for possible smoke inhalation after a grease fire that started in a kitchen spread throughout a west Jefferson County home Monday afternoon. The fire began as a grease fire in the kitchen of a home in the 12000 block of Sherman Rd before rapidly spreading to the rest of the home just before 2 p.m., according to Jefferson County Emergency Services District Three Fire Chief Jody Herrera. His department served as the primary responder, with mutual aid provided by Jefferson County ESD One, Three and Four as well as Sour Lake/Hardin County ESD 5. The home is about 2.4 miles north of the intersection of Sour Lake Rd and Westbury Rd. A grandmother and her grandson initially escaped the burning house safely, Captain Crystal Holmes, of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, told 12News.
