Chevron donates land and $300K for new Midland County fire station

VIDEO: Chevron has donated a two-acre parcel of land to the Northeast Volunteer Fire Department to help build a second fire station in northwestern Midland County. The goal is to cut response times and improve emergency services in the area.

On Monday, first responders and Chevron representatives gathered for a ceremony at the future site, located next to the Chevron pipe yard just north of State Highway 191 on Farm-to-Market Road 1788. NVFD Fire Chief Jason Duran said the new station is a critical step toward improving service coverage. โ€œThe average response time to get to the west side of the county from our current station is 30 to 45 minutes,โ€ Duran said. โ€œWith this, weโ€™ll have water here on the west side of the county. It will help with quicker response times and getting water on scene to help the City of Midland.โ€ As part of the event, Chevron also surprised attendees with an additional $300,000 donation to support the building process.
